Game engine: Mega Man Maker
My mega man project consists of 3 complete levels with varying difficulty, ranging from easy to medium to hard. The aim of the project is to design levels within a given set of rules; premade objects and obstacles as available in the editor.
My role: Level Designer
This project was tackled in a manner which assumed that players do not have any prior knowledge to playing Mega Man. Hence, I had curated earlier levels to encourage exploration and building of knowledge by guiding players with little to no penalties. Scenarios with greater complexity were introduced in later levels to serve as an opportunity to apply knowledge acquired from earlier.

It is important to teach players in a safe space when introducing a new mechanic, such that the cycle of learning and application can be repeated in game levels where the player feels rewarded and skillful, especially when overcoming difficult obstacles. A balance of pace and intensity throughout the level is also crucial in ensuring that players do not tire out and give up.
